Paarul & Kian

Paarul & Kian share their love story below.

Kian and I dated 5 years long distance before we finally moved to Venice, CA to live in the same city. We drove cross-country from Michigan and spent a week camping and hiking in Utah’s national parks on our way out west. We both fell in love with the outdoors and spending time in the mountains quickly became one of our favorite things to do together. Kian and I had decided to take a camping trip to Cooper Canyon in the San Gabriel Mountains back in October. We had set up our tent, built our fire and were talking while sitting on a log when he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was the perfect place to propose; we were surrounded by giant pine trees and had the campsite to ourselves. The next day, he had arranged a surprise engagement party and twenty of our closest friends met us when we got back to our house.
We got married in our home state of Michigan this past July. We both wanted an outdoor venue that would represent the state’s natural beauty and chose a picturesque barn near Lake Michigan. Both of our families were thrilled about the idea of an Indian barn wedding and I loved the idea of incorporating the traditions of my culture in a rustic setting. Our day couldn’t have gone better, it was a wonderful start to our marriage, and we will never forget it!

My best friend sent me a link to Todd Reed a few years ago, and I had been eyeing his jewelry online ever since. I was drawn to the unique designs and use of nontraditional diamonds. My style is not flashy and I love how he incorporates the natural beauty of rough and raw diamonds into one of a kind pieces. At the time the only showroom was in Boulder, and I wasn’t sure if we would ever have the chance to check out his collection. Right before we got engaged, Todd Reed opened a location within walking distance to our house and I knew it was meant to be. We worked with Lily, who was AMAZING to work with and helped create the perfect ring.

We chose a beautiful pale green diamond with tiny brilliant cut white diamonds, all set in a rose gold band. I can’t help but smile every time I look at my hand.
